Get in My Closet ASOS Sale Dresses

Get in My Closet ASOS Sale Dresses

I assume you all know there is a great sale going on at ASOS right now and if you go on the site you will want to buy all the things. If you didn't I'm sorry I told you cause now you kind of have to check it out right?

Anyway I have made one order already and I am contemplating a second one which is just really not necessary but whatever. Let talk dresses cause thats the only thing I wear anyway.

1. Long Sleeve Check Shirt Dress- I am kicking myself I didn't see this when I made my previous order. It would be perfect to give off that autumnal vibe without melting in Dubai sun. Love the colors and the length cause I could belt it and it would still not be too short. This is one of the reasons I am considering an second order.

2. Fit and Flare Dress with Metallic Dogtooth print- I know this one could go either way cause metallic fabrics can look cheap sometimes. However on the ASOS video view I still like it. Such a cute Christmas party dress ( yes I said it..I said Christmas party..its coming!).

3. Sequin Midi Skater Dress- this disco dress is already on its way to me. I couldnt resist it even knowing I probably dont have anywhere to wear it. But I thought for the sale price its OK even if I just put it on at home and feel happy. In reality I'm sure I will find a place to wear it to I dont mind being overdressed. The crazy all over sequin fabric in combination with midi lenght drew me in and when the second picture showed an open back (which is by far my favorite way to show skin- I'm not a boob or leg girl. I'm a check-out-my-low-cut-back type of girl) the order was made in a matter of minutes.

4. 50's Belted Prom Dress-lets me honest this is just a very me dress isnt it. I love fabric belts and the cut is like all my other dresses. It just seems to be great fabric and quality and the price on sale is fabulous. I really want to get it but.. since its sleeveless and low V cut front and back I cant really wear it to work and I dont need any more going out dresses until I start going out more. But maybe you should order it and I can live vicariously through you?

5. Ruffle Skater Dress- if a second order shall "accidentally" happen I will be adding this dress to it. It is a perfect dog walking dress. Yes that is a separate theme in my wardrobe. I just think it looks cute and comfy for home lounging and weekend beach trips.

6. -7. I already own both of these dresses and they are much loved and worn. Hence when I saw them on sale I thought I would notify you in case you want to add either to your collection. You can see me wearing the Black Debutante Midi Dress in this post. Second is the yellow Warehouse Pleat Detail Dress I have worn so much this summer. I did a post about it here. I think you should just buy both of them to be honest!!

So I shall get back to work now and stop shopping. But what do you think? Any of them worth a purchase?

Get In My Closet- Midi Dresses

Get In My Closet- Midi DressesI have been actively filling my Saved Items folder on ASOS lately. Before I order anything I love hearing your thoughts and just having a girly chat about dresses.

1. ASOS Textures Dress Dress With Halterneck - it was of course the pastel hue that made me stop on this but halterneck is new in a dress for me also and I'm feeling it.

2. ASOS Cutwork Skater Midi Dress- please do me a favor and click on the link and view the photos of the back because talk about an awesome dress. All midi and proper in the front (the cut work makes it look expensive also I think) and sexy and interesting at the back. Open back is my favorite way to show skin by far. I'm really digging the cream color for summer also.

3. Self Portrait Off Shoulder Heavy Lace Midi Prom Dress- Everything Self Portrait makes has my attention in a second because it is just soo freaking beautiful. I like this cut even better than the spaghetti strap one I once posted. The light pastel colour, the fabric, the deeo V and pretty much everything else about this is what my dress dreams are made of. If I had one wedding to attend this summer I would be clicking Buy right now but no one I know is getting married so I dont have a excuse to spend the cash.

4. ASOS Premium Bonded Scuba Pleat Midi Dress- Funnel neckline and pleats is all that is needed to have me loving a dress.

5. ASOS Premium Satin Cross Front Midi Dress- I'm hesitating on the satin but I am loving this simple cut for a day time work dress. Maybe satin is not a bad thing? It has such a nice waist line and I love the frill sleeves. Easypeasy and on sale also.

6. ASOS Midi Dress With Twist Wrap- Recently I have realized I do need a few more black dresses for work events where I need to look pretty but not overly attention seeking (think poofy pink princess dresses and pastel lace midis I love so much). I think this one is very basic but I love the twist wrap front and flowy feel.

Lets talk dresses. Which one do you like the best? I am having the itch to get a new dress..

Get In My Closet- The Expensive Taste Edition

Get In My Closet- The Expensive Taste Edition

I do not own many designer things-I have a few bags,2 pairs of shoes and a pair of sunglasses that can be categorized in that department. I would love that department to grow substantially but at the same time I do feel a little nauseous when thinking of the prices. I do not take these purchases lightly and you will never see me getting something high end on an impulse (unless its a lipstick..I have no self control when it comes to lipsticks). Thats what ASOS is for in my world.

In theory I understand that if I did not order from ASOS every month or feel compelled to buy all the things from Zara I could probably eventually buy one if not more of things from the above image. But I am so flaky when it comes to committing and saving some money unless its a trip or bills that need to get paid. I will be all good until another midi dress pops up in ASOS New In folder and that's where it ends. Half of the things I feel I "need" are obviously forgotten in a few months but then there are those few that have stuck with me.

Here come some of my real lust list items:

1. 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli Medium Satchel Bag in the shade white peach- I have always eyed the Pashli bags but it wasn't until I saw this pastel peach shade in person that it became an obsession. They stock it in Harvey Nicks in Dubai and I go to whisper my love to it every time I pass that store (I understand how that sounds but I gotta tell the truth to you). When I first laid my eyes on it I practically ran to it and cradled it in my arms like a baby. Only to realize I am still in a mall and that might be a bit much. This is a true story!

2. Valentino Rockstud Ankle Strap Pumps in nude leather- these haunt me in my dreams. They come in a array of rainbow colors but I would like basic nude leather just to make sure I could wear them with as many things possible. I have gone into the Valentino store in Dubai Mall a few times now just to make sure I still like them and yes..yes I do.

3. Valentino Rockstud Ballerinas in patent pastel pink- swooooooon.. and swooon some more. As much as I adore the pumps I know I would get so much more wear out of flats. And if we do the only math I like, the cost per wear math it would be like totally a bargain right?

4. Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage Eyeshadow quad- it is an expensive eyeshadow quad with brown shades I do not need. But I really really want it soo bad! That is all.

5. Miu Miu Noir Cat Eye Sunglasses- my latest love but a strong one it is. The whole new Miu Miu sunglasses collection is super cool but these tortoiseshell forties-style frames are funky and feminine and my favorites. And its sunny every day in Dubai surely that is a reason in its own to invest in more sunglasses right?

Whats your favorite item from my list? Is there something here you have or have been wanting to get?

I would love to know what is on your Expensive Taste wishlist.

Get In My Closet- ASOS Saved Items

Get In My Closet- ASOS Saved Items

I have been soo good as in haven't ordered anything from ASOS from a while. This however does not mean I'm not window shopping and adding everything into the Save Items folder. So I figured I could show you some of my favorites and maybe you can give me your input on which ones should I definitely order?

 1. ASOS Pretty Floral Placement Print Blouse (Link)- I just got a pair of cool high waist navy pants from Zara and I think paired with this blouse it would make such a great work outfit. I love white tops and blouses but sometimes its nice when they have a little detail or color on them also. Easy way to make an outfit interesting. Just imagine with a red or a bright pink lip with this shirt!

2. Whistles lace Trim Crop Tee (Link)- and the pastel obsession continuous. I adore this top- the color, the lace detail, the cut everything works. What doesn't work is Whistles prices. I dont think I can cope with the 160eur?! Its not worth it..or is it?

3. ASOS T Shirt with Hangry (Link)- YES! This one I have to get! If there is a dictionary with hangry in it they might as well insert my photo next to it. There is no denying my full bitch mode is on when I get hangry. Its just a fun tshirt to have.

4. River Island T-shirt (Link)- as basic as it gets but my current striped tee is getting really battered and I love the pocket and trim on the collar. Loose fit would be nice for a jeans/converse kind of weekend outfit.

5. ASOS Pleat Detail Top (Link)- another white top with some detailing. I'm always into the pleated midi skirts so why not a pleated top this time. My only concern with this one is that you probably cant tuck it into bottoms and that would limit me to wearing it with just black skinnys. Then again it would look fantastic on jeans.

6. Self Portrait Azaelea Midi Dress In Textured Lace (Link)- OMG this dress! The moment I saw this new brand Self Portrait in ASOS New In folder I was all over it. So many pretty dresses but this red one has to me my favorite. The low back and the thin spaghetti straps if it only wasn't this expensive. However husband if you are reading this..this dress would make an EXCELLENT gift for your wife!! (size 10)

7. Fashion Union Midi Skirt In Floral Broderie (Link)- broderie is one of my moms favorite fabrics. I always know she will pick up a broderie top for me to try on if we are shopping together. This skirt would just suit into my wardrobe so well. I actually do not own any white midi skirts. Crazy right?

8. ASOS Premium Bonded Lace Skirt in Floral (Link)- well is there a point for me to justify why I want this? Its a weighty midi that I do not need in Dubai heat but I love it anyway. I like the color combo and all you need is a white tshirt for an instant outfit.

Let me know which ones should I get? Or do you have some other interesting items in your Saved folder that I should take a look at?

Get In My Closet Slogan Tees

Get In My Closet Slogan Tees

Get In My Closet Slogan Tees by thelauracarlson featuring white tops

Let me tell you a little story.

When I was 13years old my friend and I went to a t-shirt store to have slogans printed on our chosen styles. Mine was a skin tight cream white sleeveless turtleneck and I chose to have "Talk to the hand cause the face isn't listening" printed on the chest. Badass right! I sure as hell thought so and wore it everyday until the printing peeled off. You see things like slogans tees weren't all that accessible in Estonia and the choice was rather limited to colorful tops saying Love or Friendship on it. And that is just not cool enough for a 13year old Laura apparently!

Anywaaaaay..

My love for slogan tees is still there only that nowadays I prefer to wear them under a blazer or tucked into a midi skirt if out of house. I have a few favorites to show you.

1. Cat hair is the new black- I mean this is my life summed up on a lovely grey tee. And if you dont agree with the statement you better not come visit our house. You can find it here.

2. Feline Meow-  I have been lusting over this one for years. There is numerous cheaper copies of it online but the original can be found here. I think this one would be a super versatile piece that doesnt only have to be worn while dog walking.

3. Don't Worry Be Yonce- yes well I have talked about the subject of Queen B before and the fact that I LOVE HER. I have loved her for many years and I would totally like to Be Yonce.

4. -5. Sweatshirts- Do I ever wear these out of home? Nope. But they are cute and I want one! Find the I Woke Up Like This here and the classic Shopping is My Cardio here.

Which ones do you like best? Do you ever wear statement tees? I'm really tempted between 1 and 2.

Get In My Closet ASOS Skater Midis

Get In My Closet ASOS Skater Midis
So tomorrow is a boring day as it involves a lot of airports and flying. What is entirely not boring is the destination- New York baby! Ohh I simply can not contain myself!

Regarding my vacation to the big apple I was on a spending ban until I can buy (as Simone would say) ALL the things in NYC. However Simone also wore a superduper pretty skater midi dress to our last get together which swiftly sent me to browse ASOS the next day.  I hadn't opened the site for a month so I was kind of taken by how many gorgeous midi dresses are in stock.

The only thing I could do was play window shopping with you guys. So here is my currect 'I want them all' skater midi dresses:

1. The dress that started it all Textured Midi Skater Dress with Floral Print (Link)- take a look how gorgeous Simone looks in it and you see why I want it. In real life this dress is so good quality, it has beautiful weight to it and I love the color!
2. Picnic Skater Dress in Texture (Link) - The V-neckline and the way it nips on your waist is what get me with this dress. Plus I always feel so pretty in white dresses (until I spill my lunch on them but still).
3.  Crepe Bardot Prom Dress (Link)- this is a dress I never thought would catch my attention. I dont own a single item of red clothing and generally never gravitate towards them. But every time I look around on Asos I end up looking at the catwalk video of this. I think I could totally work this with a red lip for an ultimate feminine combo. And it ticks all the boxes of fitted waist, box pleats etc etc..
4. Pleated Cami Midi Dress (Link) - we have addressed my obsession with pleated anything before. This beauty has been in my Save Items folder for some time. I love the bright color and the back detail equally as much as the spaghetti straps and the thin pleating.
5. Premium Embroidered Skater Dress With Blue Flowers ( Link) - well this one is just swoooooooon. Be sure to zoom in on it on ASOS to see the pretty embroidery. Also lets not forget to address the existence of pockets which instantly rockets any dress on top of my wishlist. Top this off with a collar and the details of a button down front and I will have some midi dress dreams for days!
6. Sunflower Bardot Midi Prom Dress (Link) - lets finish it off with this total babe of a dress shall we. Mad Men all the way this one is a bit more on a costume side of things but I personally love that. Its freaking expensive (95£ / 135Eur) which is why you dont see it hanging in my closet. Its a special dress but I dont think I would get to wear it enough to justify the splurge. Still a girl can dream..

So which one is your fave? Like in the case i dont find anything to buy in New York (hahaha yes I know this is fantasy talk) and I return home with all my money in the bank. Which one should I order?

P.s. there will probably be a bit of a silence next week. I will try my best do a few posts but its New York you know. So I urge you to join me on Instagram ( @thelauracarlson ) as it will get much more regular updates.

The Midi Dilemma?!

The Midi Dilemma?!

I need help!

More specifically please help me choose which midi-skirt do I need? ( I obviously also need help as after owing 5 midi skirts I still feel like I need more but lets not concentrate on that today please)

Instead I have chosen 5 skirts on ASOS I love and cant choose from so please let me know which one you like the most. I really should not get more than one..really really shouldn't! I mean we need to buy a sofa for the new living room. Although..the guests could forever sit on the floor and I will just float around in 10 different midi skirts..that might work also?!

1. Full Midi in Cotton- the cut seems pretty basic but look at the color..the color is so refreshing. I dont own anything in similar hue.

2. Midi with Crossover Front-the scuba fabric, the pastel blue color, the front spilt!! How pretty is this skirt? And you could show a little leg..

3. Full Midi in Leather Look- Im not sure about the fake leather material but the pale yellow color just haunts me. I imagine it being pretty heavy material so could be dreamy right?

4. Pleated Midi- nope. The obsession with pleated midis has not gone anywhere. I already have the same cut ASOS skirt in coral and black so I know its a great shape. The question is do I need a brighter than sun yellow option?

5. Full Skirt in Leather- in all honesty I am not allowing myself to buy this one (hello 200euro!!!) still I cant help but adore the real leather, the color, the gentle pleating and pockets. This is a real gem but soo freakin expensive.

Which one is your favorite? Seriously guys I need advice before I order one..or two..or three!!

A Day in Galle- Sri Lanka part 3

As after a few days when laying on the beach grew a little uneventful we took a day trip to Galle. Its a short tuk tuk ride away from where we are staying and we decided to have lunch and a small wonder inside Galle Fort.

Not to get all historical on you but just a few facts. The fort was built over 400 years ago by the Portuguese and then extensively fortified by the Dutch later on. Its is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses loads of little stores, cafes, boutique hotels and private houses. The architecture is an interesting mix of cultures and has a strong colonial feel to it. The narrow streets have loads of restored houses and old run down ones, funky cafes and more traditions hole in the wall places for curry and all makes it a perfect place to walk and wonder. It is without a doubt worth a visit if you are in Galle or anywhere near.

Last time we were in Sri Lanka we had such a lovely dinner at Galle Fort Hotel that we went back for lunch this time. Its a small boutique hotel with delicious food and is one of my favorite places to eat in Galle.

In matters of outfit I wore my fairly new French Connection Lucky Leaves shirt dress that was perfect for the weather (flowery pattern doesn't show the ever so charming sweat streams one gets in this humidity). The new season FCUK has been pretty awesome, fit and flare is my favorite style and there was a few dresses I would love to get even after I came home with this flowery number and the black one.

We are flying back to Dubai tonight. I do however have one or maybe more Sri Lanka outfits ready for you. And after that I cant wait to show you the little something something I picked up at Dubai Duty Free.

Mint Shorts I Never Knew I Needed- Sri Lanka part 2

I will begin this post making one thing clear.

It is about the most basic shorts ever. But you see..I have not bought a single pair of shorts in 3 years. Yes I actually stood in front of my wardrobe at home staring at the 3 pairs of shorts I own and realized they are all bought years ago and non of them have been worn for at least a year (minus my dog walking shorts but those don't count! dog walking wardrobe is a whole separate subject).

There are several reasons for that but the main one being that skirts/dresses just work so much better with my body type and my style. Secondly shorts are always sooo short! I feel uncomfortable as I would much rather accentuate my waist or show off my back than my legs- its a comfort zone thing.

Until I made the before mentioned random visit to Gap that turned into a wild shopping spree. It was obviously the color that made me even consider them and as I was lugging loads of things to the fitting room anyway I figured whats the harm in throwing a pair of shorts on.. and to my surprise I really liked them! Welcome to my life Boyfriend roll-up shorts.

The awesome thing besides the mint color that makes my heart beat faster is that you can cuff them up to whatever length you want. Here mine are double cuffed but I have worn them triple cuffed and they still dont look overly bulky. Material is super soft cotton and they sit on the waist. You could easily get them a size down if you wish for a more fitted look.

We took the pictures this morning on a small walk before the breakfast. I had intended to make it more of a -look at this paradise beach behind me- outfit shoot. But we had a proper storm with lighting and the whole works yesterday so the beach is full of seaweed and didn't offer the idyllic backdrop I was looking for.

In other important news. I miss my crazy zoo at home and therefor am stalking the hotel cat Calico constantly. She has taken a liking to me as well (it might have something to do with be the fact I feed her half of my dinner ever night) so I thought she could fill in for Zulu and Yalla in todays post.

We are off to a day in Galle so I will be back with more pictures soon. Have a great day!

Outfit and a half from Sri Lanka

Hi lovely lovely people! How are you?

Im relaxed.. I mean like taking 3 naps in one day kind of relaxed. I might have been snoozing more than I have been awake for the past few days.

Sri Lanka is as beautiful, welcoming and lovely as we remembered. Last time we were here for 2 weeks so we did a lot of driving around and saw most of the places we wanted to. So this time is mainly for lazy days and quick trips to surrounding villages. We might try to do a day in Galle as well which is one of the bigger cities in Sri Lanka but has a very cool vibe and lots of funky cafes.

We have been taking loads of pictures..mainly of palm trees and the awesome view of the ocean we get from our balcony. I might have to do a separate post for all of those pictures but for today I have a small outfit post and a half.

First up is this white dress that makes me look so much more tanned than I am and I love it. Its a oldie but goodie H&M Concious Collection from few years back.

It has the perfect lenght and pockets (!!) I really love white and light colors for vacation even thou that means I have to bring twice as many clothes. Mainly cause I will stain them in a day but whatever..I totally wore that dress yesterday and only make one SMALL stain on it!

Now the half of an outfit is a new purchase made last week at Gap. Because when one is not wearing pants you cant really call it a full outfit can you?

I havent been to Gap in ages because for a while there was just nothing for me there. This season however I have bought a maxi dress (which I have with me here and will be in one of the the Sri Lanka outfits series), shorts and silver flats and then this easy breezy shirt:

Its such a versatile shirt as it works for beach cover up but can easily be worn with jeans for a city look. I love the fabric and the cuff up sleeves and well.. its pastel and has striped on it. Do I need to go on?

So I leave you with this picture of a monkey for now and will return soon. Hope you are all having a great Monday!

Get in my Closet Shoe Edition

Get in my Closet Shoe Edition

I'm in a place right now that is dangerous for my wallet. Like really really dangerous. Mainly cause my imaginary shopping list of shoes I want is longer than usual.

Lets get at it:

1. Zara Strawberry Sandals ( Link )- I have yet to try them on but the heel height sounds right, 8 cm is usually something I can still pull off without pain or discomfort. It will depend on how well they stay on as there is no strap etc. I dont own any pink clothing ( unless its pastel pink) but I do love a bit of pink in shoes or accessories. Investigation will be done this weekend at the nearest Zara store.

2. BCBGMAXAZRIA Gamma Mesh Booties ( Link )- I have had my eye on these booties for more than a year. Laura has them and swears they are comfortable. Booties that are soo flattering and cool at the same time. I was soo happy to see them stock these again this spring but the price is holding me back a bit. I might cave soon enough thou..

3. Club Monaco April Metallic Pump ( Link )- these golden leather pumps are such a basic choice but I love gold metallic paired with pastel colors. It has the 9cm heel, the same as my DvF shoes which is the highest I can do for daily use. They would probably get the most use out of all my current shopping list favorites.

4. Club Monaco Erika Snake-Effect Flats ( Link ) - My sister sent me a link for these flats cause she has impeccable taste and knew I would love them. Pointy flats are my favorite! So beautiful and classic and.. did I mention beautiful? The big bow is so fantastically a la Valentino and the nude snake embossed leather would look amazing with anything. I want them soo bad!

5. We Are Handsome Tiger Espadrilles ( Link )- I have never owned espadrilles before but how super cool is the tiger print? Thanks to the black and white colors scheme they would be totally wearable and easy to match with different summer outfits.

So which ones are your favorite? Maybe you can help me narrow it down to 2 pairs I should definitely get?
